Have I invested in Malaysia?

In the aftermath of EC's Blackout magic and announcement that snatched away the people's victory.

Soul searching starts not just with the PR but for each an every Malaysian who has hopes and dreams for a New Malaysia.

For PR, even if all the disputed electorate were won, will they reach 122 seats? I doubt it. They fared so poorly in the Rural places by fielding mostly "parachute" leaders into these zones and the rural people rejected them. The Rural and Urban divides widens. Have PR invested enough in the rural places over the last 5 years? The results have not changed.

For us Malaysians who seek change and have dreams for a new Malaysia - have we invested ourselves in reaching the Rural heartlands - have we created business / job opportunities for our youth to work in their home towns and stay there to make a difference? Have we put our money to work in these places?

Winning the Urban places is also a given now, but winning the hearts and minds of the rural Malaysia - is not with propaganda or money. It's by investment of time and growing leaders from these places. Have we as new Malaysians given birth to new leaders in these heartlands?

That's the question i ask myself and my friends. If change is what we seek, we need to seek to change ourselves first and invest in change. Investment doesn't mean praying alone or giving money to ngos, church or political parties etc.

Will we as Malaysians with hearts full of dreams and fire, move to invest our time and money and business in creating jobs, business and educate the rural people in Malaysia? It is a fallacy to believe that just because of election fraud alone that we are robbed of change. I think we are robbed of change if we Malaysians don't change - if we don't invest in reducing the gap of rural and urban people. If we create business only in cities and towns. If we just give money to build bigger more comfortable churches. I am asking myself, have change really happen in me? Or it is just dreams and hopes. Dreams and hopes is still one leap away from change. That leap is making an investment.

Have I done enough? Have i invested in Malaysia?

The Aftermath: The End of KJ

Khairy Jamaluddin - On his way out?

Latest from the Malaysian Insider (which incidentally was inaccessible for the last 3 days), is KJ is on his way out.

I guess most of us would be delighted with this news and most likely to agree that He is the most hated (after Samy Velu) person in Malaysian Politics.

Just read this description of him:
Arrogant. A Racist. A Crony. The epitome of what’s wrong with Malaysian politics. A Malay ultra. The power behind the throne. Too ambitious. Too cocky. Too much in a hurry. Too interfering. Too young. The hidden hand behind the missteps and colossal collapse of Barisan Nasional at the election.

Add all of these together and you still would not complete the list of how Malaysians perceive Khairy Jamaludin, the deputy chief of Umno Youth, MP for Rembau and the son-in-law of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Remember Proverbs 10:3 "The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked."

Lulu is my Heroine.

Here is my list of unsung heroes (not in any order), that made the 12 General Election such a success.
1. Everyone in the Bloggers United (special mentions to People's Parliament, Malik, Nat, Zorro, Mob & Lulu)
2. Volunteer Polling Agents
3. Raja Petra's Malaysiatoday
4. Malaysiakini.com
5. Everyone who forwarded & printed views, emails and blogs exposing the "truth"

Obviously, there are plenty more unsung heroes.
Who do you want to add to this list?

The Aftermath: The End of these Mobsters

Apparently, Mr Untouchable just received his marching orders from God.
The shock of losing his Istana must have been "heart" breaking.

The Aftermath: The End of May13 Spectre

"Don't go out to KL, it is not safe after the election", thats the first thing my mom-in-law told me (in Hakka) after the massive victory by the Barisan Rakyat. I was thinking of shopping in Pavilion. No surprise there since she is 65 years old and have horrible memories of the spectre.

Or, perhaps she had been brainwashed by the Chinese papers to believe that May13 will happen if Chinese vote for the Opposition. I personally don't believe any of the bull from the Chinese-papers. Fear mongering is their forte.

Unfortunately, the English papers started to send subtle messages of the likelihood of racial clashes if people voted the Opposition. One ex-MP from MCA even threatened the voters with May13, which you can read in Lulu's blog.

One thing that I am glad (I am happy about plenty of things) about the aftermath of Election 08 is the end of the May13 Spectre. I doubt any politician in future will ever give this threat to voters again.

Here is what is reported by Leslie Lopez

THE last time Malaysia was rocked with a spectacular election upset that threatened the ruling coalition government, race riots followed. But there will not be a repeat of the May 1969 communal clashes after last weekend's stunning election results which robbed the Barisan Nasional (BN) of its two-thirds majority in Parliament and had the opposition take over an unprecedented five states.

Here is why:
1. Unlike in 1969, when Malaysians voted along communal lines and the Malay political dominance was put in doubt, the rejection of BN at the weekend was a result of a multi-racial political tsunami.

2. Also, the economic clout of the Malays has expanded tremendously. They hold a huge stake in the national economic pie and undermining that would be foolish.

The BN government did try to raise the 1969 bogey in its election campaign, stressing that only the Umno-led coalition could ensure peace and stability.

In the final lap of campaigning, less subtle messages appeared in several mainstream newspapers, which raised the spectre of communal clashes should the people cast their vote for the opposition. But the strategy did not work.

Many young Malaysians who reached voting age in the past 10 years do not carry the baggage of the May 13 riots because they have enjoyed uninterrupted economic prosperity and political stability. The opposition coalition, led by former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim, also took great pains to reassure the Chinese and Indians that the Malays would not tolerate any attempts by the BN to stir racial problems.

At a huge gathering in the Malay enclave of Kampung Baru on the fringes of the capital Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Anwar said that both his Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS, would defend the non-Malays. 'There will be people who will want to stir race problems. But we in PKR and PAS will defend our Chinese and Indian brothers,' he told a cheering crowd of predominantly Malay supporters.

Selangor - turning a Corrupt State to a real Developed State

Selangor is now Liberated from the clutches of BN

The Shocker of the 12th General Election is the fall of the corrupt BN state government of Selangor into the hands of Barisan Rakyat!

The people of Selangor has had enough of the scandals, scheming and corruption of the state government and this is the triumph of the people over the proud fascist government lead by Khir Toyo.

We rejoice - because now Barisan Rakyat can start the major cleaning up exercise of all the local councils and land offices!
May the corrupt be prosecuted!

The Wind of Change has brought down the Walls of Selangor!

Barisan Rakyat Double Slam Dunk

Latest result from Malaysiakini - shows that Barisan Rakyat will replace the corrupt state governments of Penang, Selangor and Perak! PAS already won Kelantan and Kedah.

So on top of slamming the BN of the 2/3 majority, Barisan Rakyat slam dunk over these major states!

The Brainwashed Host in TV

I have been following the Astro Awani broadcast of the results and it amazes me that these people keep giving all sort of dumb reasons why BN lost in various places.

Excuses such as:
1. Silent voters making their voice heard
2. Opposition playing up oil prices.
3. Prices of goods increase
4. Chinese voting the opposition
5. Anti-establishment feeling

But nothing is mentioned about the BIG win in Penang, Kelantan, Kedah or Selangor!
Nothing is mentioned about Malaysian's anger with the blatant corruption and mismanagement of our money!
Nothing is mentioned that people are fed up with the BN governments hacking of our constitution and converting our nation into an Islamic state.

The people has decided, but our TV and national media is holding back the results to stupefy us!

14 Boxes suddenly appear at 12 midnight?

Malaysiakini reports: Uncounted ballot boxes in Lembah Pantai - 12.12am
There are another 14 ballot boxes that have not been counted in this parliamentary seat, throwing a spanner in the victory achieved by PKR’s Nurul Izzah against incumbent Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Wow could 14 boxes be uncounted by 12 midnight? How did they come about?

Phenomena of Phantom Boxes. BN boleh!

Threat of ISA to be invoked?

Malaysiakini reports: IGP: Don’t spread rumours of riots - 9.53pm

Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan tonight warned that ISA will be invoked against those found spreading rumours of riots and urged those receiving such SMSes to report them to the police. Meanwhile, the opposition has urged its supporters to remain calm.

Why wouldn't the opposition remain calm when they are winning! Isn't the people who are losing that are not calm?
This is again a veiled threat of May13 where our right-wing cousins (who are sore losers), took matters in the one hand and started to riot and kill.

This time, there are plenty of leftwing cousins with all of us in Barisan Rakyat. It is not the same ending this time, I am sorry, BN.
You can't con us again.

The Silence (in the TV) is deafening

A picture of the BN media in all counting stations

While Malaysiakini is giving all of us minute to minute updates of major results and upsets, the Star, NST and TV media have only given us results in favour of BN. Penang, Perak and Kelantan is completely blanked out of their reports.

For instance, Penang is now under Barisan Rakyat, Kelantan is under PAS, and SAMY gets the boot in his 72th birthday.
Other big results - Slaughter in Seputeh, First Blogger MP, Fallen Koh, and Big wins by PAS in Terengganu.

Read Wheresmynoose.blogspot.com - its hilarious!

Slaughter in Seputeh

Latest unofficial report from Malaysiakini - the Sassy MP butchered the Sexist Wannabee by a Malaysia record majority.

Its payback time the for BN govt. Its just a waste that this constituency is so large- what to do, when you have BN and EC gerrymandering the electorate.

Unconfirmed reports states that Penang is now under the Barisan Rakyat.

See Evil, Hear Evil but Speak the Truth

I came across this interesting blog -by Mr. Smith - and I really recommend you reading.

Here is his excerpt of a reply to Wong Chun Wai's 'Why Christians prefer to vote for PAS, not BN' published in the Star on the 29 Feb 2008. (And I am sure his letter was not published by the MCA paper)

“ I hear church groups telling their congregation to vote anything opposition including PAS, which is simply naïve and emotional. Whatever the flaws of the system, it still works, despite some occasional hitches,” said one Penang Barisan leader.

Why didn’t you name that Penang Barisan leader? Because this quote is your personal view. Writers like you, who are de facto press secretaries of the MCA, write your views and attribute them to some sources or political analysts. Please lah, don’t mock at our intelligence!

Mr Wong, a flawed system doesn’t work!!! If it is flawed, it is flawed. How can it work?

I understand you are a Christian but I wonder how much you understand the Gospels or the very life of Jesus Christ and what he stood for.

Our Lord would not have been crucified had he accepted “the flaws of the system” of His times. He never asked his people to close their eyes to the “flaws of the system” and instead focus on development , personal comfort, bank accounts and roads.

He stood up against the corrupt leaders who were fleecing the people. He condemned them as dead man’s tombs, hypocrites, vipers etc ( please read Matthew 23). The entire chapter is condemnation of the corrupt leaders of the Law.

How could one who professes to be a Christian choose to prop up a regime that is utterly corrupt and immoral? How could a Christian vote for candidates who are unwilling to defend the rights of his religion? How could a Christian support a regime that denies the weak non-Muslim to seek redress in any court of law?

What is your take on abuse of power, the dismantling of the Judiciary, the corrupt government leaders who inflate their bank accounts with money that belongs to the people? What is your stand on the confiscation of Christian literature and the Bible or the banning of the term “Allah” (mind you, this was approved by the Cabinet of which MCA Ministers are members)

Aren’t all these precursors of more frightening things to come? Have you thought what awaits your children's future if this trend continues?

Opposition Penang rally draws 30,000

Penang rally last night (Thursday) which drew 30,000 by a conservative estimate.
- Picture by Choo Choy May for The Malaysian Insider.

According to the Malaysian Insider, the DAP and its supporters stun themselves by the large turnout. "The crowd was mainly Chinese, a mixed bag of young and old, with pockets of Malays and Indians. About a quarter of them were wearing red, as called upon by DAP party leaders to show its strength in numbers." it was reported.

Looks like Penang will be free from the clutches of BN.

Two Headed Cow

Guess who is the 2 Headed Cow?

Excerpt from RPK's article: Melayu Umno dan Cina DAP bodoh

Najib says that the Chinese should reject DAP because DAP is working with PAS and PAS supports an Islam State. Najib is therefore saying that he too does not support an Islamic State. Najib says that the Malays should reject PAS because PAS is working with DAP and DAP supports a Secular State. Najib is therefore saying that he too does not support a Secular State. To the Malays, Najib says he does not support a Secular State and, to the Chinese, he says he does not support an Islamic State.

So what then does Najib support? Well, it all depends on who he talks to. If he talks to the Chinese, he will whack the Islamic State and, if he talks to the Malays, he will whack the Secular State. Najib thinks that Melayu Umno bodoh and Cina DAP bodoh as well. Yang pandai Najib seorang saja.

Expect more of this the next 48 hours as Polling Day gets closer. Desperate people will do desperate things. And the loss of five states plus 90 seats in Parliament requires desperate measures. That will be what will happen these next 48 hours. Tapi jangan Melayu dan Cina semua jadi bodoh. India sudah celek mata. Melayu dan Cina maseh tutup mata ke?

Why not a pic of a two headed snake? Well, thats too common.

Ink Spill Trick

First its the stunning U-turn on the legal requirement of the Stamp Duty on the statutory declaration accompanying the nomination form. Now, we are hearing the excuses that some 'syndicates' will spill the ink. RM2.4 million down the drain, that is. Surprised, are you?

Of course, you will get all sort of spins and protest and excuses from all parties judging by what i have read so far. Whether it be true or not, no one will know. But one thing for sure, Malaysians are no longer that gullible.

Ink or no ink, the EC and BN will cheat and have cheated their way to power. It's another Ink Spill Trick.

Kick this MIC-key out of Segamat

Datuk Dr S Subramaniam - MP of Segamat

If you read the news in NST and in Malaysiakini (which is now free for a week!) you get the impression that Segamat will be a walkover for this MIC fellow.

Malaysiakini list 5 Parliamentary seats at risk but it does not include Segamat.

I think Dr SS is far from safe. You see, the last election, he could count on the feel good votes of some Chinese to win with 17,953 votes and 7,809 majority. Of course, he banked on 50% of the Malay votes and all of the Indian votes.

Segamat according to undi.info has 40,983 voters, with Malay: 40.50%, Chinese: 47.50%, Indian: 11.80%, Others: 0.10%.

What he does not know is this:-
There will be more MCA members voting for the DAP candidate! It is not a secret that many members of MCA have been outwardly saying all the right things in front of party chiefs but voting the DAP guy. Why, they can't understand why the MIC gets to rule the town with a chinese majority!

In fact, my prediction is that 80% of the Chinese & Indians will be voting for the opposition this time. And adding 20% of the Malays who are anti-BN to the tally, that will make up at least over 55% of the total votes!

Of course, we don't know how many postal votes will come to the rescue. But I suspect, Segamat will not be a safe bet anymore.

Another Lame Excuse

Why is PJ south folks so gullible? Why did they vote for a Donald Duck that can only quack an excuse like this: "Under the BN leadership, we are doing much better than Burma ..." My goodness, it is Myanmar, not Burma!

And this is a first: - Church people, usually docile and passive lot, got pissed and jeered him. I hope many more PJ south folks see the light and vote to roast this lame duck.

Why we cannot give BN 2/3 of Parliament

This is a piece of information I received from one of our friend of why we need the greatest effort of all the people of Malaysians just to deny BN its 2/3 majority. It would be almost a miracle indeed. Nevertheless, we will still try even if we need a miracle to deny BN of 2/3 majority. Email this to your friends.

HERE'S THE FACTS WHY WE CANNOT GIVE THEM 2/3 OF PARLIAMENT

1. Barisan lost 2/3 majority once, in 1969. Only briefly.
2. Since 1957, it has amended the constitution 690 times to propagate its power. By comparison, USA which is more 200 years old has only amended its constitution 27 times; Singapore as little as only 4 times.
3. Barisan's ability to amend the constitution as it likes (and make unjust and unfair constitutional changes) must be stopped now.

Here's the statistics from the 2004 election:

1. UMNO received 35.9% of the popular votes but has 110 parliamentary seats or 50% of all parliamentary seats.
2. In total, Barisan received 63.8% of the popular votes but has 199 parliamentary seats or 91% of all parliamentary seats.
3. The opposition received 36.2% of the popular votes but has only 20 parliamentary seats or 9% of all parliamentary seats.
4. Why? Because of gerrymandering (check the dictionary: it means dividing voting districts so as to give unfair advantage to one party in elections) , or unfair election rules. The election rules are stacked against the opposition. No matter what happens, the opposition will never, I repeat, will never be able to win the next election.

Here's the decision-making power process within our present cabinet.

1.. UMNO not only controls the parliament via Barisan, it has allocated itself 24 cabinet positions or 71% of all cabinet positions.
2. MCA has 5 cabinet positions or 15% of the cabinet positions.
3. MIC has 1 cabinet position or 3 % of the cabinet positions.
4. Gerakan has 1 cabinet position or 3% of the cabinet positions.
5. Other component parties hold 3 cabinet positions or 8% of the cabinet positions.

One should take note that although UMNO controls 50% of all parliamentary seats, it controls 71% of all the decision making processes within the cabinet.

4. Many marginalization issues or unfair election practices are the result of legislations passed by Barisan (lead by UMNO) unchecked in a dominant Barisan parliament. Under the Barisan Party whip system, the majority component party within Barisan will dictate the rules of the game. Other Barisan component parties like MCA, Gerakan or MIC cannot vote against what UMNO decides in whatever it likes, even if they wanted to.

5. Best part is this: even if the opposition won all the seats it contested, no single opposition party can form the next government. Why? Gerrymandering (of the present election borders) has ensured that even if Barisan were to win 50% of the popular votes in the upcoming election, it will still control 2/3 of parliament. As an example, in 2004 Barisan took 64% of the popular votes but ended up controlling 91% of parliament. It is easy to see why if they win only 50% of the popular votes in the next election they will once again be able to dictate absolute power in the parliament.

Do your maths … and do your part… for our children and our future!
