Crime Alert: Another Car Jacking

Recently I received an email (story has been confirmed) of another car-jacking in KL, this time at OUG Plaza. The owner of a silver Chevrolet Optra5 (i almost bought this baby) similar to the pic above with registration WQB3200 have this tale of woe:

Hi, my name is Fuankee, Ryan. On 16th March 2008 I was in my car (Silver Chevrolet Optra5, with the engine running, windows up, and doors locked) with a friend of mine parked right outside of Plaza OUG at 11pm when a champagne color Perodua Kelisa stop next to my car. A malay man with mustache walked out from the passenger side of the kelisa, probably aging around his late 20s walked up to my side of the car, knocked the window and asked for our IDs. I was fooled by his appearance as a plain coat police, as I personally did encounter with a few before, and winded down the window slightly, only a couple of inches down, but out of my expectation, he reached his right hand for my car lock's knob very swiftly, and within seconds,he had already opened my car door.

Out of nowhere, another guy came and pulled my key off the ignition. At the same time, another two guys (one indian, one malay) had already reached the passenger door, asking my friend (a girl) to get off the car as well. Calmly, she asked, "Where's your police ID or even a search warrant?" Instantly, he threatened to get her off by saying, "saya ada pistol,(i have a gun)" and pointed a gun at my friend. The fake policeman grabbed me by my arm, dragged me out of the car and pushed me against the car. I asked for his police ID as well, but he pulled out a 2ft length rusted 'parang' from his black jacket, threatening me by directing the 'parang' right at my face instead.

He forced me to get on the floor and body searched me for valuables. At that very moment, I had nothing with me as all my belongings as in wallet, watch and handphone were all inside the car. I was so close to believing that it would be my last night, afraid that they would get all angry, finding nothing valuable with me.

P.S, It's reported that robbers even force children to knock at your car windows and claim that they're lost. DO NOT wind your windows down to help them cos as soon as you do, these robbers will do the same like they did to me. Just report the lost kid to the police with your windows up.

Pleaes contact Fuankee at 012-2036109 if you sighted the Chevy.

For Couples: The Secret

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.

They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoebox in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box.

When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000. He asked her about the contents. 'When we were to be married,' she said, 'my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.'

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness. 'Honey,' he said, 'that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?'

'Oh,' she said, 'that's the money I made from selling the dolls.'

A Prayer......

Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man,
love to forgive him, and patience for his moods;
because Lord, if I pray for strength,
I'll beat him to death, because I don't know how to crochet!

Care for some plastic coated snacks?

Read this and be warned. Malaysia boleh!

I have a funny feeling that some of our hawkers in JB are so fed up with Singaporeans increasing the prices of goods, that they have come up with this to poison our lovely neighbours.

Don't be too shocked if I tell you that some of our KL & Penang hawkers may be using plastic too, since the price of floor has gone up.

Spy Shot: Is this the new Proton MPV?

Is this for real? Looks really good - almost like the new Stream.

Spy Shot captured on the East-West Highway by CarStudio.

If it will drives as well as the Honda Stream & costs half of a Stream, then I wont be surprise that this would turn out to be a best seller.

After a string of hits from Proton, I really hope they continue their good showing with an MPV like this by the end of this year.

Perhaps a new engine to boot? Like a Campro 1.8 CPS or dare I suggest a 2.0 TDI Diesel from Mitsubishi? Say good bye to Granny Livina soon!

Essential Motoring 101 has this to say.

My say would be that Proton should offer a Campro 1.8L diesel engine, besides the usual petrol motor. Of course, the CPS (Cam Profiling System) and perhaps the VIM (Variable Intake Manifold) would not be a question at all when the MPV arrives.

How harmful is our Cellphones?

Image:Cellphone head sar 1.png
It's in your head, in your head, zombie zombie... (remember Cranberries?)

Every now and then, I get an email from a friend or my wife detailing horror tales of supposed harmful effects of cellphones on our brain, kidney, sex organs, and even a child. Such as this story:-

"This morning I heard a sad real story from my colleague. She told me one of her friend always miscarriage when the baby 2-3 months old for few times continuously in few years time. The couple went to check with many doctors and lastly one of the doctor check on the death baby and found out the baby's body cells keeping die when baby growing up until he/she cannot be survived.

This is because her uterus has been affected by HANDPHONE radiotion. The doctor told she has no chance to get baby no matter how because the radiotion affected her uterus which the major portion of her uterus cells already death, cannot carry healthy baby. All this because of she has been keeping her handphone in her working jacket which the position just right to the uterus position for few years time. Please beware and take note the consequences is not worth."
Usually people take heed to these warnings to play safe. But are these claims old-wives tales (Urban legends) or are they for real?

The best place to check whether some tales are true or not is Snopes.com. You will find many of the emails you received about dangers Coke, Margarine and some health warnings to be nothing more than jokes. Remember the one about not using your mobile phone in Petrol Station? Read this to know the truth.

Anyway, there is no article on the harmful effects of cellphones in Snopes - so I did some snooping around elsewhere. And found this two useful sites: Howstuffworks and CNet's Quick Guide on Radiation Levels.

Chart for the radiation levels of different devices.
OMG! Cellphone is a microwave!(I can hear my wife panicking)

All electromagnetic energy falls somewhere on the electromagnetic spectrum, which ranges from extremely low frequency (ELF) radiation to X-rays and gamma rays. Read this article to know the levels of radiation affect biological tissue.

In short, after reading all this stuff and Wikipedia, the jury is still out on the question whether cellphones have any long term effects on our brain cells, kidney or sex organ. There is no conclusive proof that it is harmful to us.

All I know is that if you are one of those who keep buying a new cellphone every time a new model is out, then your brains must have been fried for sure.

Why do we need so many ministers in the PM Department?

So that he can continue to do this....ZZZ ... ZZZ .... (he is old and tired)

Latest - PRIME MINISTER'S DEPARTMENT

Minister : Tan Sri Bernard Dompok
Minister : Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz
Minister : Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
Minister : Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (senator)
Minister : Datuk Amirsham A Aziz (senator)
Deputy : Datuk Johari Baharum
Deputy : Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim (senator)
Deputy : S K Devamany
Deputy : Datuk Hasan Malek

As a student of management, I learned that the easiest way to work less is to delegate more. And the easiest way to not work at all is to have many assistant managers (mid-level management). Our PM must be a really good student of mis-management.

Why do we need so many ministers in the PM Department? So that our PM can continue to to travel around the world with his USD 50million private Jet. Read this

The Queen of Parliament dethroned today

Latest: The longest-serving Cabinet minister in Malaysia, and perhaps the longest serving trade minister in the world, has been dropped. Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, the former Trade and Industry minister, a position she has held for just over 20 years, since 1987, was dropped from the 12th Malaysian Cabinet announced today at noon by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi.

Rafidah Aziz known for her imperial record of hardly ever present in Parliament. She hardly ever attends Parliament more than 5 times a year. And she is a minister for 20 years! I am sure she wont be missing Parliament, but she might be missing dishing out APs.

Wikipedia has only this to say about our minister of 20 years. No achievements listed, nothing!
In 2006, she was accused of corruption related to the issuance of
Approved Permits (AP) for importing foreign vehicles, by former prime
minister Mahathir bin Mohamad in his series of criticisms against the government.
A few familiar names were revealed, close associates and buddies and AP made them instant millionaires without adding any value. Malaysians were inflamed, the press at that time was on a witch-hunt and all of a sudden nothing happened.

Because "Semuanya okay" according to Pak lah. Maybe the "hug" has something to do with it.

One area Malaysians are better than Singaporeans

... it is GUTS.

While Malaysians showed up in great numbers (over 40,000) in our protest rally on the 10th November 2007, only a handful of Singaporeans showed up last weekend in their "Tak Boleh Tahan" rally. And these includes kids!

The handful of brave Singaporeans who protested. Stand up, stand up for Singapore?

As mentioned previously, SDP organised a protest rally on Saturday. But only a few turned up in RED while everyone else in Singapore is busy shopping. I guess either the majority aren't feeling the injustice or are just too apathetic to bother showing up.

If that is the state of democracy in Singapore (judging by the numbers), then I think Malaysians are so much more ahead of Singapore in this area.

The Most Wanted Face

This is Kirsten aka Ashley Alexander Dupre (pictures & interview here & Kirsten's Myspace page)

The face (and name) millions of Americans are searching for.
Why? A New York Governor (Eliot Spitzer) resigned amidst revealing details of his sex scandal with the Emperors Club VIP. And guess what, he won the governorship for being known as "Mr Clean". According to the Sun, "The married dad — who made his name prosecuting prostitution rings — stood down after the FBI caught him hiring a £2,000-an-hour tart. He had spent over £40,000 over the last 10 years on high class prostitutes".

Remember someone else in Malaysia who is called "Mr Clean" too?

According to Wikipedia:
The Emperors Club VIP was an alleged prostitution ring based in New York. Suspicious money transfers to these accounts by Eliot Spitzer, governor of New York State, prompted a federal investigation of Emperors Club VIP leading to its demise in March 2008. In its heyday, the Emperors Club VIP was an international escort agency that solicited wealthy male clients via a web site that rated its women on a Seven diamond scale from three to seven diamonds (and charged accordingly). As of March 11, 2008, the Emperors Club VIP website, emperorsclubvip.com, has been shut down. The ring had 50 call girls available for appointments in New York, Washington, Miami, London and Paris, according to a complaint unsealed in Federal District Court in Manhattan. The appointments, made by telephone or through an online booking service, cost between $1,000 and $5,500 per hour and could be paid by cash, credit cards, wire transfers or money orders. A woman who was top-rated (seven diamonds) could cost as much as $31,000 per day.
Unbelievable as it must be, I really wonder if there are also similar "Raja Club" here. I wonder whether some escort will show up and tell a similar story here like Kirsten did. And I wonder which politician will be under the spotlight.

Which politician do you think would be exposed if a similar "Emperor Club" is busted?

Interesting read: NY Times interview with Kirsten and The Smoking Gun's expose
Latest: News from UK, "SHAMED New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned last night amid claims he spent more than £40,000 on high-class hookers over TEN YEARS."

Singapore also 'Tak Boleh Tahan'

Apparently our Singapore brothers are also fed up with the ruling party PAP. And SDP is organising a Protest Rally - asking everyone to wear RED.

Pseudonymity said:

"Our elderly poor continue to break their backs just to eke out a miserable existence. Many cannot even afford three square meals, some even having to live off scraps on hawker centre tables.

The PAP's young, arrogant, and heartless ministers then tell them that they should forget about retiring.

What about our workers? They are made to work harder and longer, and for less pay. Many of them have to sign contracts that don't allow medical leave, no bonuses, and demand 72-hour-work weeks.

They have no unions to speak for them as the NTUC is headed by a PAP minister. The problem is worsened by the indiscriminate taking in of foreign workers to compete with Singaporeans to suppress wages."

Despite all of this, the ministers brazenly help themselves to an 85 percent increase in salaries last year with the prime minister paying himself more than $300,000 a month!

The PAP is like a grotesque monkey on our backs, keeping Singaporeans bent and strangulated.
"

Sounds like a wave of unrest may rise from the south in Singapore. They have different issues from us, yet there is a sense that the majority are now fed up with Political Elitism, just like us.

When a government holds on to power for too long, like in Malaysia, it ends up self-serving and oppressive.

I suppose SDP is hoping that many Singaporeans will paint the city RED, just like we painted the streets of KL Yellow on 10 November.

As much as they are "Kiasu" (unwilling to lose) I hope they are not "Kiasi" (afraid to die). If their Kiasi-ness is greater than their yearning for change then, sorry-lah not many will show up in RED.

The Aftermath: Hitman targets BR MPs?

Barisan Rakyat MPs: Beware of Hired Guns!

Today's news:
KLANG: DAP strongman and Sungai Pinang assemblyman Teng Chang Khim had a near miss yesterday when a four-wheel-drive vehicle nearly rammed into him in Lorong Tingkat near here yesterday.
Mr Shadow Fox has been sniffing around and this is his warning.
My advice to opposition MPs is to be on the alert at all times and be careful because history has shown that these gangsters would not bat an eyelid to kill even MCA datuks and YBs, much less opposition party candidates.

The Aftermath: The End of KJ

Khairy Jamaluddin - On his way out?

Latest from the Malaysian Insider (which incidentally was inaccessible for the last 3 days), is KJ is on his way out.

I guess most of us would be delighted with this news and most likely to agree that He is the most hated (after Samy Velu) person in Malaysian Politics.

Just read this description of him:
Arrogant. A Racist. A Crony. The epitome of what’s wrong with Malaysian politics. A Malay ultra. The power behind the throne. Too ambitious. Too cocky. Too much in a hurry. Too interfering. Too young. The hidden hand behind the missteps and colossal collapse of Barisan Nasional at the election.

Add all of these together and you still would not complete the list of how Malaysians perceive Khairy Jamaludin, the deputy chief of Umno Youth, MP for Rembau and the son-in-law of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Remember Proverbs 10:3 "The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked."

The Aftermath: The End of May13 Spectre

"Don't go out to KL, it is not safe after the election", thats the first thing my mom-in-law told me (in Hakka) after the massive victory by the Barisan Rakyat. I was thinking of shopping in Pavilion. No surprise there since she is 65 years old and have horrible memories of the spectre.

Or, perhaps she had been brainwashed by the Chinese papers to believe that May13 will happen if Chinese vote for the Opposition. I personally don't believe any of the bull from the Chinese-papers. Fear mongering is their forte.

Unfortunately, the English papers started to send subtle messages of the likelihood of racial clashes if people voted the Opposition. One ex-MP from MCA even threatened the voters with May13, which you can read in Lulu's blog.

One thing that I am glad (I am happy about plenty of things) about the aftermath of Election 08 is the end of the May13 Spectre. I doubt any politician in future will ever give this threat to voters again.

Here is what is reported by Leslie Lopez

THE last time Malaysia was rocked with a spectacular election upset that threatened the ruling coalition government, race riots followed. But there will not be a repeat of the May 1969 communal clashes after last weekend's stunning election results which robbed the Barisan Nasional (BN) of its two-thirds majority in Parliament and had the opposition take over an unprecedented five states.

Here is why:
1. Unlike in 1969, when Malaysians voted along communal lines and the Malay political dominance was put in doubt, the rejection of BN at the weekend was a result of a multi-racial political tsunami.

2. Also, the economic clout of the Malays has expanded tremendously. They hold a huge stake in the national economic pie and undermining that would be foolish.

The BN government did try to raise the 1969 bogey in its election campaign, stressing that only the Umno-led coalition could ensure peace and stability.

In the final lap of campaigning, less subtle messages appeared in several mainstream newspapers, which raised the spectre of communal clashes should the people cast their vote for the opposition. But the strategy did not work.

Many young Malaysians who reached voting age in the past 10 years do not carry the baggage of the May 13 riots because they have enjoyed uninterrupted economic prosperity and political stability. The opposition coalition, led by former deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim, also took great pains to reassure the Chinese and Indians that the Malays would not tolerate any attempts by the BN to stir racial problems.

At a huge gathering in the Malay enclave of Kampung Baru on the fringes of the capital Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Anwar said that both his Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and PAS, would defend the non-Malays. 'There will be people who will want to stir race problems. But we in PKR and PAS will defend our Chinese and Indian brothers,' he told a cheering crowd of predominantly Malay supporters.

Bursa Suspended, Reacts to Geopolitical change

Bursa fell more than 10%

Latest news:KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia halted trading at 2.58pm after the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) fell 10%, which is the maximum limit. The KLCI fell 130.01 points to 1,166.32, the biggest one-day percentage loss in recent years. Turnover was 913 million shares valued at RM2.47bil.

Losers hammered gainers 887 to 19.

Also: Key Asian markets fell in the morning session Monday on growing fears of a recession in the United States while in Malaysia, sentiment was further weighed down after the Barisan Nasional failed to retain its two-thirds majority in Parliament.

As we have just barely recovered from the euphoria and lack of sleep of the Election Aftershock, Malaysia - brace yourself for an economic aftershock.

In all likelihood, BN will blame us (for voting for change) for the fall of the Bursa, when in fact it is a regional sentiment as US is in recession and the Oil price is now at record level.

One only need to look at who are the big losers to realise that there are mainly those in property development and concessionaires. There is no surprise there, right since a cleaning up will soon happen and investors are running scared!

Day of Upsets on CNN Frontpage

The developments in our nation is front page news in the CNN.com, taking over Obama's news.

Such is the impact of this massive change.

The day of Upsets is also not confined to just the political arena where the mighty have fallen.
The Devils and the Blues also suffers embarrassing defeats to minnows.

The people of Selangor has had enough of the scandals, scheming and corruption of the state government and this is the triumph of the people over the proud fascist government lead by Khir Toyo.

We rejoice - because now Barisan Rakyat can start the major cleaning up exercise of all the local councils and land offices!

The Brainwashed Host in TV

I have been following the Astro Awani broadcast of the results and it amazes me that these people keep giving all sort of dumb reasons why BN lost in various places.

Excuses such as:
1. Silent voters making their voice heard
2. Opposition playing up oil prices.
3. Prices of goods increase
4. Chinese voting the opposition
5. Anti-establishment feeling

But nothing is mentioned about the BIG win in Penang, Kelantan, Kedah or Selangor!
Nothing is mentioned about Malaysian's anger with the blatant corruption and mismanagement of our money!
Nothing is mentioned that people are fed up with the BN governments hacking of our constitution and converting our nation into an Islamic state.

The people has decided, but our TV and national media is holding back the results to stupefy us!

Threat of ISA to be invoked?

Malaysiakini reports: IGP: Don’t spread rumours of riots - 9.53pm

Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan tonight warned that ISA will be invoked against those found spreading rumours of riots and urged those receiving such SMSes to report them to the police. Meanwhile, the opposition has urged its supporters to remain calm.

Why wouldn't the opposition remain calm when they are winning! Isn't the people who are losing that are not calm?
This is again a veiled threat of May13 where our right-wing cousins (who are sore losers), took matters in the one hand and started to riot and kill.

This time, there are plenty of leftwing cousins with all of us in Barisan Rakyat. It is not the same ending this time, I am sorry, BN.
You can't con us again.

The Silence (in the TV) is deafening

A picture of the BN media in all counting stations

While Malaysiakini is giving all of us minute to minute updates of major results and upsets, the Star, NST and TV media have only given us results in favour of BN. Penang, Perak and Kelantan is completely blanked out of their reports.

For instance, Penang is now under Barisan Rakyat, Kelantan is under PAS, and SAMY gets the boot in his 72th birthday.
Other big results - Slaughter in Seputeh, First Blogger MP, Fallen Koh, and Big wins by PAS in Terengganu.

Here comes the Phantom Voters!

I usually dont watch the local stations like TV1, 2 or TV3 but this time I wanted to watch what is being reported in our BN controlled media.

Not surprising, TV9 reported that PAS tried to stop a bus load of people suspected to be Phantom voters and took all their MYKad. MB of Terenganu said PAS is fearful of losing and resort to this sort of illegal action. It is stuff like this that put me off local stations. In fact I hope many people in the Malay heartland stop watching this nonsense.

The fact is phantom voters were being recruited "openly" - as reported by Teresa Kok blog - where people are paid RM200 to travel to Kelantan and Terenganu to vote. See the pics in her blog.

It's so blatant and yet, this Election COmission have the gall to claim they see nothing illegal. EC must be blind, deaf and without conscience.

I read somewhere suggesting spray painting these phantom buses to mark them. That might work better than taking their Mykad.

The BN coalition are bad losers and sore losers. If they can't win legitimately - they will do so with phantom voters.

What has Gerakan Lau Yeng Peng done?

My brother in law's constituency at the Tempua area of Puchong Jaya just had their roads tarred.

Any surprise? It's election 'bribery', you say?

Think again. Its election funding, my sources said. "The councilors make sure they get as many contracts out (including road jobs) before the election starts so that 'money' flows back into the BN election machinery. It's not a favour to the people, its a favour to themselves." said a person close to a unnamed local councilor.

Those of you living in this area will no doubt know that the park in the middle of the Tempua area is hardly ever maintained.

The children's playground is a safety harzard! Residence has complained about the damaged slider but it was never repaired or replaced for 3 years! The faulty swing used by many kids in the areas is never replaced. Rubbish and burnt logs are everywhere and not cleared. In fact, the drainage is so bad the pitch is hardly playable for football. What has he done?

The MP Lau Yeng Peng tried to 'show' some community work by building a Basketball court in the park late last year. The people I met here said they hardly ever seen him until he came and said he build the court.

But his pee-brain effort sees part of the football pitch now invaded by the new Basketball court! Is the basketball court necessary? There is actually a court already about 300 meters away in another small park! Remember, money for his campaign, it isn't a favour..

He probably instructed the replacement of the jogging track with this full cemented track which is worst for the joggers leg, but it has caused more clogging of the water on the pitch. Worst still, areas which were devoid of race, his 'people' just pour sand and cement on the surface! Then after all the work has been done, the barrels of tar and equipment are left unattended as extra hazards for kids.

This is the ex-MP of Puchong Jaya. You folks in Tempua, you voted for him, didn't you?
